Captivating Brides and Special Occasions

is the new venture from Cathy Whitby.

Although Captivating Brides opened in January 2009, Cathy has over ten years experience helping Brides chose their Dream Wedding Dresses in Liverpool.

Until October 2008 Cathy was a partner in a Bridal Shop in South Liverpool which won The Daily Post & Echo, New Business Of The Year Award in 2000.

So Cathy, why have you opened a new Bridal Shop just as the credit crunch starts to bite?

“Wedding Dresses have been my life for that last 10 years and I’m very excited about this new venture.

Although the economic climate has changed, people will still fall in love and get married, it’s just that their priorities may be slightly different.

Every Wedding is different.

Every Bride has her own thoughts and budgets; my role is to use my knowledge and experience to help the Bride to make the best choices for their individual situation.”

I notice that you’re offering a range for The Mother of The Bride.

“That’s something that we have been asked for by our customers in the past. We were often asked for our comments on celebrity styles by the local press so it seemed natural to include this range in the new shop.”

You also have a range of Men’s Formal Wear for hire. Is this something else that your customers have asked for?

“Yes. Many Brides prefer to arrange the Groom’s suit hire with us as well.

We offer a wide range of styles and can provide either just for the Groom and the Best Man, or for as many guests as you would like.”

Proms are growing in popularity every year, but it’s not always easy to find something suitable.

“Prom Wear is another natural extension of our business. We have a fabulous range of Prom Dresses and of course with our Men’s Formal Hire we can cater for everyone (even kilts!)”

Are there any other ranges that you have introduced?

“Well our customers have often asked if we can help them with Communion Dresses and Christening Robes, so we have introduced both ranges and we are finding that people really love them.”

So now I know why you new business is called Captivating Brides and Special Occasions.

“The choice of name was deliberate.

Wedding Dresses will always be our core business, but there are many Special Occasions where we can use our knowledge and experience to provide a more comprehensive service for our customers.”
